BIO
Director/writer/producer DANA ADAM SHAPIRO was nominated for the 2006 Academy Award for his film MURDERBALL. His latest film, MONOGAMY, starring Rashida Jones and Chris Messina, won Best NY Narrative at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival and will be released theatrically later this year. His animated short, MY BIODEGRADABLE HEART, premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival and was an official selection at Sundance and many other fests around the world. THE EVERY BOY, his debut novel, was a NEW YORK TIMES EDITORS' CHOICE and a 2005 BOOK SENSE NOTABLE BOOK. He adapted the novel for Brad Pitt's Plan B/Paramount Pictures and is attached to direct the film. Other projects include HOLLER, which he wrote and will be produced by Screen Gems in the spring, and KICKED, BITTEN, AND SCRATCHED, a romantic comedy he is producing with Kristin Hahn and Summit Entertainment. Shapiro is a former senior editor at SPIN, a founding editor and senior writer of ICON magazine, and he is a contributor to THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE and other publications. He was the 2007 Artist-in-Residence at Bucknell University, and currently lives in Venice, California. He is repped by Sylvie Rabineau at RWSH and Brian Young at Untitled.
